"MIDI file could not be parsed" error in windows app

I read about this in Sound on Sound, so thought I'd give it a go :)
I've got a few Jazz Piano midi files that I've exported from Ableton Live, after converting mp3's to midi files using the Live functionality of audio->midi.
The plan was to convert them to readable scores using ScoreCloud without sitting through them and making a manual tempo map.
However for two of the the three files I've generated, I get the error mentioned in the subject, the other just doesn't load.
One of these I've attached.
I've not checked whether it's a type 0/1 but should that make any difference?..
They do import info Sibelius and Cubase, so I'm assuming the files are valid... ;)

Thanks,
Sean

    Hi!

Make sure to choose the "Import to Listener" option in the MIDI import dialog for unquantized MIDI files, and then analyze it.

The MIDI type can make a difference, type 0 is very old and limited, so data can get lost, try exporting as Type 1 and see if it works better. We'll take a look at the file and see what could have gone wrong!

  • Thanks for that. I'll give it a go and let you know :)
